Win a case of El Prado wines

Spanish brand El Prado was produced with the UK consumer firmly in mind, using well -known international grape varieties blended with indigenous Spanish varieties.

"El Prado is an affordable, vibrant, contemporary range of Spanish wines from the Thierry's stable. The brand was launched in 2005 and was initially designed to attract new consumers to the Spanish category," a spokeswomen says.

The El Prado portfolio includes a white (Macabeo/Chardonnay), red (Tempranillo/Cabernet) and rosé (Tempranillo). A rosé cava is also available. The El Prado Tempranillo/Cabernet 2007 was in the top 124 wines in this year's New Wave Spanish Wine Awards.

El Prado wines can be found in Waitrose, the Co-op and Somerfield and are priced from £4.49 to £15.99 for a 3-litre bag-in-box.

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
