Bulmers launches phone app

Heineken UK has launched a phone app for its Bulmers cider brand.

The application is designed to direct consumers to the nearest outlet stocking the brand’s limited edition Summer Blend, using the phone’s GPS.

The launch of the app – which works on i-Phones and Androids – coincides with the launch of a new Bulmers website and a Facebook fan page which features a version of the stockist finder.

Brand manager Douglas Cook said: “As with any limited edition product it is only available in selected outlets and our consumers are asking us where they can go to find it.

“It’s fantastic to be able to use technology like this to help consumers and especially great for that spontaneous purchase on the way home from work when the sun is shining.”

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
