Cointreau reveals Blood Orange variant

03 April, 2017

The Cointreau family has been joined by a new “remarkable edition”.

Cointreau Blood Orange, which is described as being “the perfect balance between sweet, bitter and blood orange peels”, is the latest addition to the range by iconic spirits house, La Maison Cointreau.

The producer said it located some of the most aromatic blood orange fruit on the planet in the orange groves of the Mediterranean island of Corsica; these blood oranges are harvested once a year between February and March, when their peels contain high concentrations of the essential oils that are then captured by distillation.

The new drink is presented in the iconic Cointreau square bottle with the ‘1849’ seal to signify when the House was first established. The bottle’s rose gold finish is a nod to the copper stills at the Cointreau distillery in Angers.

The 30% abv Cointreau Blood Orange is priced at £17 for a 50cl bottle. The drink has listings with Waitrose from Spring 2017.
