Black Sheep adds cans to its craft range

Black Sheep Brewery has extended its craft beer line up into cans for the first time.

Pathmaker, a 5.6% abv pale ale, which was created in homage to Black Sheep’s founder, Paul Theakston; and Glug M’Glug, a 6.2% abv dark IPA, which was named after a mythical create created by a relative of the Theakston family; are now available to the retail trade.

The launch forms part of Black Sheep Brewery’s 25th anniversary year celebrations.

Jo Theakston, sales and marketing director, said: “We promised a number of surprises and initiatives for our anniversary year celebrations and this is another exciting offering to our customers. It is the first time we have produced Black Sheep cans for our craft beers and it is only fitting that they both recognise tales of our brewery dynasty, to coincide with our 25th anniversary.

“Our brewing team are always ahead of the curve and continually producing award-winning beers, and we are always pushing the boundaries in the spirit of my dad and his legacy when he founded Black Sheep.

“The hand drawn designs of both Pathmaker and Glug M’Glug cans will be striking additions to supermarket shelves, complementing our vast bottle range.”

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
