The drink, is packaged in a 75cl bottle, is designed to be “perfect for special and celebratory occasions, as well as sharing with friends and family”.
Rob Salvesen, senior marketing manager at Kopparberg, said: “The continued growth of the sparkling wine market has undoubtedly, in part, been down to the shareable drinking occasions consumers associated in the trial last year with the products in the category. The success of our KopparKeg also demonstrated that fruit cider drinkers are increasingly looking for propositions that can be shared and enjoyed with friends and family. That’s why we are excited to be adding Sparkling Rosé to our range, a premium cider alternative for the traditional sparkling wine drinking occasion.”
Speaking to OLN, Salveson said: “Every year is a big year for NPD for Kopparberg and 2017 will be no exception to this. We looked at the success of KopparKeg last year and the rate of sale was incredible so the sharing occasion is one we started to look at more closely. Plus the fruit cider category is phenomenal and consumers absolutely love it. We have more NPD lined up this year, plus we will continue to work with our Fruit Lager, which is in its second year now. It reached more than £3m in retail sales last year, which is outstanding for any piece of NPD; and there is still a lot of work we need to do on awareness for this product.”
The 7% abv Sparkling Rosé Cider will initially be stocked exclusively in Asda, priced at £6.50 a bottle.
