Majestic is best known for its wine but has a burgeoning British beer business and was named Beer Specialist of the Year at OLN’s Celebrate British Beer Awards 2016.
The new deal will see Black Isle’s flagship beer, Black Isle organic blonde, rolled out across the group’s entire retail estate of more than 200 stores from today.
Beth Pearce, buyer at Majestic, said: “Black Isle is a fantastic independent craft brewer with very firm beliefs and principles. They care passionately about what they do.
“That’s something we admire greatly, not to mention the fact that their organic blonde is an outstanding beer. We’re excited to be the first retailer to offer them a national sales platform and look forward to what the future will bring.”
The organic blonde comes in 33cl bottles and is loaded with organic Hallertau Aroma hops from New Zealand.
The brewery is located in the Highlands and sells in the on and off-trade across Scotland, but this is its first major venture south of the border.
Black Isle founder David Gladwin said: “It’s great for an organic beer to get a UK-wide listing with a retailer like Majestic. They recognise the growing demand for high-quality organic beer that offers genuine provenance and sustainability. We believe everywhere that sells beer should have at least one organic choice, and of course, we want that to be Black Isle. Our message is drink great beer and help the environment at the same time.”
