Pierhead adds Phuket Lager to its global beer line up

Phuket Lager is arriving on UK shores this week, and is set to join Pierhead’s portfolio of global beers.

Phuket Lager, which was founded in 2002 in Thailand, is brewed with premium German hops and Thai jasmine rice, which is added during the brewing process to enhance the beer’s smoothness and aroma.

The lager has no additives or preservatives and is produced in small batches every two or three months to ensure freshness.

The company’s mascot – a vibrantly-coloured hornbill bird – appears on the logo. The bird is a protected species of Thailand and is set to symbolize purity, fertility and loyalty.

Last month Pierhead announced it would distribute Swedish brewer Nils Oscar’s beers in the UK, including its popular God Lager.

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
