Quintessential adds super premium Irish whiskey

Quintessential Brands has added to its Dublin Liberties range with a second super premium Irish whiskey.

The limited release whiskey, from the Dublin Liberties Distillery, is called Copper Alley: a 10 Year Old Single Malt finished in 30 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Casks.

Copper Alley joins The Dublin Liberties Oak Devil as the second expression in the range of Premium Irish Whiskies.

The limited release whiskey is double barreled with 10 years in Bourbon casks and finished in 30 year old Oloroso Sherry casks for six months. There are only 31 Sherry casks of this whiskey, which is non chill-filtered ad bottled at 46%.

Master Distiller, Darryl McNally, said: ‘My inspiration for Copper Alley was going back to the original methods of Irish whiskey making. Having rested for 10 years in Bourbon casks, I felt it just needed something extra to really bring it to life. Working with our cask partners, I came across some 30 year old Sherry casks of exceptional quality which I knew would give the whiskey an edge. This is a one off – there are only 31 casks, so this is a whiskey which will be little repeated.”

Copper Alley follows the successful launch of The Dublin Liberties Oak Devil in 2015.

The new variant – which will be priced at E50 for 70cl - is named after one of the oldest and most raucous streets in Dublin, where tanners, tradesmen and taverns traded alongside whiskey distilleries of old.

We see great opportunity at the top end of the market, which is growing strongly. Premium Irish Whiskey is growing at 25% year on year and we are seeing great consumer interest in new and distinctive brands”.

Quintessential Brands purchased the Dublin Whiskey Company earlier this year. Work begins on the newly-named Dublin Liberties Distillery in 2017.
