Big Peat Christmas 2016 limited edition revealed

05 September, 2016

The sixth Big Peat Christmas Edition will blend whiskies from all active distilleries on Islay, plus the long-closed Port Ellen.

Big Peat is traditionally a marriage of primarily Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and Port Ellen, but the new one is unlike anything seen before as it blends nine single malts to make a one-off Big Peat Christmas recipe.

It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 54.6% abv, and the new release is without colouring or chill-filtration.

Jenny Rogerson, marketing manager at producer Douglas Laing & Co, said: “Big Peat’s annual Christmas release has become a hotly anticipated bottling by friends of our peaty Ileach fisherman across the globe. We’re more excited than ever to reveal this year’s Limited Edition, an undisputedly innovative product in terms of both spirit and packaging.”

Just 2500 cases of Big Peat Christmas 2016 will be available globally via specialist whisky retailers from September 2016.
