Jamie Baxter, the producer’s master distiller, discovered a range of preserved cherry blossom on a recent trip to Tokyo; he returned to the UK eager to create a Burleighs expression with a difference.
The new variant uses Burleighs traditional London dry recipe but it is distilled along with the Japanese cherry blossom, pink grapefruit, hibiscus and rose flowers, resulting in a vibrant, smooth and fresh gin, according to the company.
The limited edition gin, of which only 600 bottles will be available, is bottled in an opaque pink bottle.
Baxter said: “Tokyo is full of wonders and I have created a gin that emcompasses some of the excitement and joy that can be found in the great city.”
Burleighs London Dry Gin is craft distilled in Leicestershire on a copper pot still nicknamed Messy Bessy. The gin is also available in Signature, Export Strength and Distiller’s Cut.
