Asda appoints Lynsey Grace to head up its wine team

20 July, 2016

Asda has refreshed its BWS team following the recent departure of Ed Ashley, who held the role of senior buying manager for wine.

The supermarket retailer has now appointed Lynsey Grace as head of the wine team to replace Ashley who has relocated to Australia to work for Coles.

Grace said to OLN: “I am over the moon to be back and heading up the wine department. I have a fantastic team who are currently working on some exciting and new ideas for 2017. I have been lucky enough to work across BWS over the last few years, so hopefully I will be able to bring some wider category learnings back to wine.”

Grace previously held the role of buying manager for wine, before leaving to become senior buying manager for beer and then most recently spirits.

A spokesperson for Asda told OLN: “Lynsey Grace has a lot of experience in the BWS category and is bringing this to the wine team.”

Ben Montgomery has taken over from Grace as senior buying manager in spirits for Asda.

Looking back to look forward

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
