Budweiser Budvar grows sales as multiples plump for provenance

07 July, 2016

Czech brewer Budweiser Budvar has reported volume sales to the multiples have grown 11.6% so far in 2016 after strong performances in May and June.

UK sales director Simon George believes the Euros have helped, but also pointed to a shift in the way retailers view beer.

He told OLN: “Consumer macro trends are going in our favour because people care more about how things are made and they engage well with the Budvar story.

“The multiples and others in the off-trade are waking up to this trend and realising the future doesn’t lie in standard lager and cider.

“The brand is also doing well at standing up for itself as we are engaging in more consumer activity – sponsoring festivals, opening more tank bars.”
