Tiny Rebel Brewing returns to its home-brew roots

11 May, 2016

Tiny Rebel Brewing Co, the award-winning Welsh brewery, has returned to its roots by releasing its first home-brew kit for the Champion Beer of Britain 2015, Cwtch.

Tiny Rebel has teamed up with home-brewing specialist, Muntons, to replicate the award-winning Welsh Red Ale. The beer is described as full bodied with a wonderful balance of citrus and tropical fruit notes, backed up with caramel and roasted malt flavours. Unlike many other home-brews, the kit comes with hop pellets and a brewers’ wort totally unique to Tiny Rebel.

Bradley Cummings, co-founder of Tiny Rebel, said: “We started off as a home-brewers and to this day most of our new beers start off as a test batch on our home-brew kit before being scaled up to the main brewhouse.

“Back when we were bottling our beer in the garage, the home-brew community provided us with a lot of guidance to fine tune our techniques and bring our beer up to standard so it’s fantastic to now give people the chance to make their own Cwtch at home.”

Gazz Williams, co-founder and head brewer, added: “As Cwtch is one of our most popular brews, we were really excited to work with Muntons on this project.

“A moderately bitter ale, at 4.6% abv, we think it is an ideal beer for novices and those with experience to get into.”

The new kit (rsp £24.49) will brew 36 pints of Cwtch and will be available from high street stores and specialist home-brew shops, the Tiny Rebel online store from and their Urban Tap House bars in Newport and Cardiff.

Welcoming the wine rookie

It’s all true. Wine writers loaf around in a state of partial inebriation and partial undress, bitching about having to taste free wine all day and using recondite words like malolactic, terroir and recondite.
