Status Quo launches cider and ale

Status Quo has teamed up with British producers to create a cider and an ale.

Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt of Status Quo have launched Dog of Two Head ale and Down Down cider, which will both be bottled and available to buy from Spar from 18 May. Draught versions are also available in selected outlets from June. Both will also be available online.

Dog of Two Head ale was created in conjunction with Hobsons Brewery in Shropshire, while Down Down cider is crafted by the Celtic Marches company in Herefordshire. The band have been involved in the brewing process and cider making from the initial stages.

Rossi said: “We know what we like. And we know what our fans like. And I think we can all agree that we like these!”

The beer is a chestnut amber traditional ale, with a modern cotrus twist delivered by the British hops.

Down Down is a rounded golden, medium cider with a well-balanced finish. The cider will be available in three formats: carbonated in 500ml bottles, a 30 litre keg an still in 20 litre boxes.

The band have already launched the Piledriver beer brand, which is reported to hjave sold more than a million and a half

Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
