Carlsberg UK promotes finance chief to top role

18 February, 2016

Danish brewer Carlsberg has promoted Julian Momen to chief executive of its UK business.

Momen has been chief financial officer for Carlsberg UK since September 2012 and replaces interim chief executive Michiel J. Herkemij, who is moving on to become senior vice president for the Western Europe region for Carlsberg.

Momen has 30 years’ experience in the food and drinks industry, which includes 16 years at Diageo, followed by time at General Mills, RHM Adelie and now Carlsberg.

He said: Michiel has started that new direction of greater value and brand focus, and I am delighted to be able to continue the exciting, challenging journey on which we embark.”

Herkemij added: “Carlsberg is in a very interesting phase, and I am sure the coming years will be very exciting. Western Europe remains Carlsberg’s home field, and I look forward to working closer with the great people in the region to deliver continued strong results.”

The search for a new chief financial officer for Carlsberg UK will start immediately.
