The prize is given by DOCa Rioja to individuals or institutions whose activities in sport, science, culture or commerce have celebrated and enhanced the appreciation of Spanish culture, of which wine is an integral part.
Longoria was unanimously chosen by the panel for philanthropic work in support of Latin causes, and in particular social integration and the empowerment of women, as well as for her achievements as an actress.
Wines of Rioja recently supported a charity gala held by the Eva Longoria Foundation in London, providing exclusive wines for the event and donating a prestigious collection of vintage wines for the charity auction.
The vintage collection, which included 1951, 1964, 1970, 1973 and 1978, was ultimately sold for £50,000.
Longoria will receive the award at a ceremony next year in Logroño.
The prize has previously been awarded to Antonio Banderas, Ferrán Adrià, Plácido Domingo, and Mario Vargas Llosa, among many others.
