The company has secured shareholder approval for the £200 million deal to take over Britain’s biggest on-trade drinks wholesaler announced in early September.
Asked by OLN if take-home wholesaler acquisitions or deals to handle off-trade drinks sourcing for third-party customers could form part of future strategy, Hunter said: “Absolutely.”
She added: “I can see that potential very clearly. It would be entirely logical to do that.”
But were that to happen, she added, she would seek to avoid accounts that were in immediate competition with Bargain Booze or Wine Rack franchisees.
“In everything we do in business we’ll ensure we protect the interests of our franchisees,” she said.
The company will drop the Retail part of its name to become Conviviality plc on completion of the Matthew Clark deal, to reflect the broader drinks distribution nature of the business.
