Kingsland merges with Bottle Green

27 August, 2015

Kingsland Drinks has decided to merge its business with Bottle Green after buying the Leeds-based supplier in April.

It conducted an “in-depth strategic review” and decided the best way forward was to form a single company operating out of Irlam, near Manchester, which has been Kingsland’s headquarters since 1955.

Bottle Green managing director Jon Eagle will remain with the business but it has yet to reveal what his role will be.

Kingsland boss Andy Sagar will continue as managing director of the overall company, and he said: “The integration of Bottle Green represents a key stage in Kingsland Drinks journey to be the leading premier independent supplier of wines and spirits to the UK, specialising in providing a total category solution.

“This integration of Bottle Green brings together Kingsland’s existing expertise in manufacturing, supply chain, bulk sourcing and marketing with Bottle Green’s sales, producer relations and wine making know-how.

“While we had originally intended to grow this aspect of the business organically, the opportunity to purchase Bottle Green allows Kingsland Drinks to realise our goal far quicker than expected.

“The newly combined business will offer the breadth of service necessary to survive in an increasingly challenging industry.

“Our enhanced team will provide continuity for producer partners and customers alike and I am pleased that Jon Eagle, Nick Butler and Adam Marshall will be joining the executive of the combined business.”

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

All across England and Wales, vineyards are being harvested. Down winding country lanes come armies of welly-wearing conscripts wielding secateurs and buckets, ready to reap the rewards of our vines. Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
