Boutinot targets independent wine merchants with new range

16 July, 2015

Boutinot has teamed up with Spanish producer Bodegas Murviedro to develop a red and white duo specifically aimed at UK independent wine merchants and the on-trade.

Murviedro has 80ha in Valencia, Utiel-Requena and Alicante with access to fruit from a further 1,500ha from across the region.

Boutinot’s Spanish buyer Jean Wareing MW has been working with the winery to develop Fauno, a range blended for the UK market.

She said: “The entry-level red and white wines combine indigenous Spanish and international varietals.

“Murviedro has the same approach to the wine we bring to market as us: that they should absolutely deliver at their price points and offer the classic character of their provenance along with the fresh, fruit-driven profile demanded by the UK palate at that level.”

The wines are inspired by a mythical faun said to guard the region’s vineyards.

The Fauno Viura Sauvignon Blanc 2014 and Garnacha Syrah Monastrell 2014 will have an rrp of £5.99 each.
