WOSA targets indies

02 July, 2015

Wines of South Africa is targeting independent merchants with a new event this October.

Wozani is a one-day event that will show wines only available to independents and the on-trade at South Africa House in London’s Trafalgar Square on October 7.

The tasting comes in response to growing interest in premium South African wines from those sectors, and will feature a broad range of producers from up-and-coming “young guns” to long established wineries.

UK market manager Jo Wehring said: “The South African wine scene has changed dramatically in recent years and we’re seeing such enthusiasm for our wines with independent merchants and sommeliers that we felt it was important to create a tasting where buyers can find the wines to suit their business and also discover more about South Africa’s exciting and dynamic industry.”

Exhibitors include Alheit Vineyards, Beaumont, Botanica, Thorne & Daughters, Fable Mountain Vineyards, Cederberg, Ataraxia, Yardstick, Mulderbosch, Bouchard Finlayson, Rustenberg, Glenelly, Kleine Zalze, Thelema and Distell.

WOSA’s major business showcase Cape Wine takes place in Cape Town on September 15-17, while Wines of the Beautiful South, where WOSA teams up with Wines of Chile and Wines of South Africa to present wines from the southern hemisphere, will return to London on September 7-8, 2016.
