Drinks Retailing Award winner wins beer listing with M&S

Twickenham specialist Real Ale has won a listing with Marks & Spencer for one of its own beers.

The independent retailer launched its own range of beers in May to coincide with its 10th anniversary, starting with a 4.2% abv beer called Ubiquitous, a collaboration with Derbyshire-based Buxton Brewery.

Real Ale is already involved in sourcing beers for M&S’s own beer range and has now seen its own beer given a listing in 71 stores in London.

Founder and director Nick Dolan said: “To be listed in M&S with our first own-label brand is fantastic news for us and the team at Buxton Brewery. 

“Having Ubiquitous listed in such high profile M&S stores in and around London will give this fabulous beer the profile it deserves.”

Real Ale is a serial winner of the independent beer retailer prize in OLN's Drinks Retailing Awards.

Looking back to look forward

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
