The college has run wine production courses in partnership with the University of Brighton since 1996 and now boast a 10ha vineyard, commercial winery and research centre.
The new BA Wine Business focuses on three themes: the wine trade, wines of the world and business management. Students will be taught about distribution channels, consumer behaviour and sensory evaluation of wine, along with specialist modules on subjects like sparkling wine.
A number of course modules correspond to the Wine and Spirit Education Trust Level 3 and 4 qualifications, which will allow students to take the WSET Diploma as an additional qualification.
The course also allows students to participate in commercial grape growing and winemaking on the estate, while study trips head to wine-producing areas like Bordeaux and the Champagne region.
Course Leader Paul Harley said: “We’ve already seen a considerable level of interest, from both within the UK and abroad, for a great course with a strong academic focus on the business of wine.”
