Trivento fuels surge in CyT's UK sales

15 April, 2015

Sales of Trivento Argentinian wines helped boost UK sales figures for the UK arm of Chile-based wine producer Concha y Toro last year.

Total sales for CyT UK topped 6.5 million cases, an increase of 16.9% on 2013. Chilean brand Cono Sur increased sales by 34% in the off-trade and Trivento was up 60%. Main brand Casillero del Diablo grew 20.7% to 1.6 million cases and its Cabernet Sauvignon became the best selling brand of that varietal on the UK (IRI, year to Feb 28).

CyT said that Trivento reached 400,000 cases and its “positive result was boosted by the sponsorship of the rugby Premiership in the UK and the increased interest towards Argentine wines in that market”.

Global sales for the group passed the US$1billion mark for the first time and volumes were ahead by 22.6% at 33.2 million cases, following three years of slower sales.

CyT claims to be the world’s fourth largest wine producer by volume and the second in vineyard area.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

All across England and Wales, vineyards are being harvested. Down winding country lanes come armies of welly-wearing conscripts wielding secateurs and buckets, ready to reap the rewards of our vines. Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
