Trade can taste almost 1,000 Portuguese wines next week

25 February, 2015

New wines and vintages from 126 producers representing 11 different Portuguese regions will be poured at a trade tasting in London on March 5.

The annual Wines of Portugal tasting will take place at RHS Lindley Hall and showcase almost 1,000 wines from across Portugal.

A dedicated Vinho Verde area will highlight the quality of the region, focusing on its blends, single varietals and premium and complex wines.

For the second year running, Port wines will be showcasing new vintages – this time 2012 – at the tasting.

There will also be a series of seminars throughout the day where guest speakers will guide visitors through a variety of topics.

Looking back to look forward

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
