Burgundy specialist joins Sogrape UK

18 February, 2015

Sogrape UK has taken on Meursault specialist Ropiteau Frères and will distribute its wines from across Burgundy and southern France.

The producer specialises in Côte de Beaune, but also makes wines from Chablis to Beaujolais and its reach extends into southern France.

Matt Douglas, who heads up the Reading-based UK subsidiary of the Portuguese drinks giant, said: “Ropiteau Frères is an excellent addition to our existing portfolio of world class, premium wine brands including Mateus, Sandeman, Finca Flichman, Mount Pleasant and Mouton Cadet, among many others.

“The wines from Ropiteau Frères give us a high quality and consistent offering from a key region as we expand our sales team and diversify our market penetration across channels.”

Jean-Pierre Grangé, UK Director at Ropiteau Frères owner Boisset, added: “As a family-owned wine producer, we share many of Sogrape’s family-oriented values and are especially pleased to begin our association with them in this way. Ropiteau has had a long and successful history in the UK market and we are very excited about taking the brand to even greater heights with Sogrape UK’s experienced team.”

What makes wine special

Reaching the 50th instalment of Hemming’s Way is hardly the biggest milestone, but I don’t need much of an excuse to pour myself a glass of champagne before getting dressed. It’s a better reason than I had for all 49 other instalments, anyway. Not that that stopped me.
