Bibendum PLB takes on New Zealand producer

18 February, 2015

Bibendum PLB has added New Zealand producer Ara Wines to its portfolio.

The single vineyard Marlborough estate has had a presence in the UK market for four years and Bibendum PLB said in that time it has “gone from strength to strength”.

It will distribute several different tiers – Ara Pathway, Ara Single Estate, Ara Select Blocks and Ara Resolute – which all come from different blocks of the same single vineyard.

Matthew Smith, Bibendum PLB’s New Zealand buyer, said: “Ara is a fantastic Marlborough producer and their impressive growth in recent years is undoubtedly down to their commitment to quality and the strength of their brand.  We see great potential for further growth for Ara Wines in both the on and off-trade and look forward to making the most of this over the coming months."

Ara chief executive Christine Pears added: “The future is bright for Ara as we look to continue our strong growth in the regional and national on-trade, specialist off-trade and grocery channels. Aligning our commitment to the UK market with the strengths and resources of Bibendum PLB to make that happen is exciting.”
