Encirc appoints new general manager

Contract bottler Encirc has appointed John Hawkins as general manager to oversee operations at its Cheshire plant.

Hawkins joins Encirc from soft drinks manufacturer Refresco Gerber, where he spent six years as contract manufacturing director, he has worked in the drinks industry for 20 years.

He said: “Encirc is a successful business with a long-standing reputation for delivering high quality bottling products and solutions. Beverages is a key part of Encirc’s unique proposition and adds significant value to the offering.

“The facilities at Elton are world class and I’m looking forward to working with the team as we continue to develop these and realise even greater achievements in the future.”

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
