Godfather of booze cruising stabbed to death

The godfather of booze cruising Dave West has been stabbed to death in central London, and his son David has been charged with murder.

West made millions by setting up the Calais-based discount alcohol and tobacco business Eastenders.

He also founded his own wine label, The Dog’s B*******, and ran a nightclub and restaurant in London’s Mayfair.

West, 70, was found with a single fatal stab wound at his Mayfair home just after 6pm on Friday, December 12.

His 44-year-old son David was arrested on a nearby street and later charged with murder.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Officers and ambulance ­services attended and found the body of a man, aged 70, believed to have been stabbed. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed.”
