Autumn Red is described as “smooth and soft with flavours of blackberry and caramel”. It has 13.5% abv and is to retail for £6.99.
Gallo has teamed up with chef and professional forager Caroline Davey to back the launch with a campaign dubbed Explore the Great Indoors.
It aims to encourage people to forage for home cooking ingredients they can find near their homes.
There will be a sampling campaign in retailers during November and December, with an experiential campaign highlighting the best ways to enjoy the wine – in front of the fire or in the kitchen with home-cooked food.
Marketing manager Alexis Byron said: “Autumn Red is an exciting new wine for the Gallo Family Vineyards portfolio. Perfect for red wine lovers, but also those who traditionally stick to white, Autumn Red offers a smoother taste to many traditional red wines, bringing an interesting addition to the category.”
