Henry Westons launches bag-in-box mulled cider

13 October, 2014

Westons has launched a mulled version of its Henry Westons cider in bag-in-box.

The drink blends Henry Westons cider with cinnamon and mulled spices at 4% abv, and is ready to drink once warmed on the hob.

The 2.25-litre pack will keep for six weeks once opened, which Westons says makes it ideal for parties or for single serves.

Senior brand manager Matthew Langley said: “The mulled cider category has seen huge growth over the last three years, yet until now there has been a gap in the market for a larger sharing format which will keep for more than just a few days. The time was therefore right to launch Henry Westons bag-in-box Mulled Cider to the take-home market.

“We originally launched our Mulled Cider into the on-trade in 2012, and volumes last year were up 200% on the previous year, which reflects how consumer demand for the product is growing phenomenally.

“According to Mintel, 69% of consumers will consider cider in sharing formats such as bag-in-box, and with 56% of consumers drinking cider at least once a month through the winter, our new bag-in-box Mulled Cider is likely to be a huge hit with consumers.”

The launch follows a brand refresh for the whole Henry Westons range, which is now on shelves.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

All across England and Wales, vineyards are being harvested. Down winding country lanes come armies of welly-wearing conscripts wielding secateurs and buckets, ready to reap the rewards of our vines. Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
