Tesco wine team member joins Concha y Toro

01 October, 2014

Tesco category manager Andy Gale has moved over to the supplier side of the drinks trade by joining Concha y Toro UK as head of new business and technical development.

Gale spent 18 years in Tesco’s wine team but said he was attracted by the incredible wine brands within the CyT portfolio.

Simon Doyle, general manager at CyT, said: “Andy Gale is the latest in a series of senior appointments across the business designed to ensure we are fit to meet the ambitious long-term growth targets which we agreed late in 2013.

“A significant proportion of the projected growth will need to come from new business and product development and we recognised it was essential to have that expertise in house.

“Having worked directly with Andy on many projects in recent years I am delighted to have secured someone of his calibre.

“As head of new business development, Andy will be responsible for enhancing our commercial and technical capabilities to win the new business we seek.”

Gale added: “I am delighted to be joining the team at CyT and tremendously excited at being given the opportunity to help drive the business forward. Given the incredible wine brands within CyT’s portfolio and the amazing potential of the Company, I’m relishing the challenge ahead of me.”
