World Beers launches Huber Bock

04 September, 2014

World Beer has launched a dark lager from the USA’s second-oldest brewery, Huber, based in Monroe, Wisconsin.

Huber Bock has been produced since 1899, excluding during Prohibition, and is designed with a 50s-style label to tap into a trend for “retro Americana”, according to the brewery.

The 5.5% abv brew comes in a 33cl bottle and is said to mix hints of coffee and cocoa with robust malt flavours and a creamy rich finish.

World Beers managing director Peter Karsten said: “While Huber Premium is still growing at a healthy rate, we have been inundated in the past few months from outlets searching for dark lagers and bocks, possibly due to the increased German interest post World Cup.

“To this end, we felt the timing was perfect to unleash this absolute beauty on the UK market. With the American craft beer trend continuing to boost interest, we think the Huber Bock has the retro packaging and quality credentials to be a big hit as the colder months beckon.”

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas
