New sherry releases from Ehrmanns

Ehrmanns is set to release new sherries from Williams & Humbert and Viniberia at the Great Sherry Tasting on September 15.

The tasting, hosted by the Sherry Institute of Spain, takes place at the Westbury Hotel in Londonís Mayfair and features more than 30 producers presenting more than 190 sherries.

Williams & Humbert is launching a Single Cask Vintage Oloroso 1982 from its Treasure Selections range, which also includes Fino En Rama Vintage 2006 and As You Like It Amontillado Medium Sweet.

Viniberia, Ehrmannís Jerez-based sister company, will unveil new bottlings of its Almacenista Selection range, which comes from family-owned almacenista butts and is made with minimal intervention from barrel to bottle, along with a number of other sherries that are new to the UK.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

All across England and Wales, vineyards are being harvested. Down winding country lanes come armies of welly-wearing conscripts wielding secateurs and buckets, ready to reap the rewards of our vines. Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later theyíre crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
