Tesco runs warehouse sale for online wines

Tesco is running a warehouse clearance sale on its Wine By The Case website.

Over 100 wines are included in the Big Wine Clearance promotion with wines discounted by as much as 64%.

The sale started yesterday and will finish at midnight on September 2.

Featured wines include:

Château Camensac Haut-Medoc 2008, reduced from £179.94 a case to £96.48.

Chapel Hill’s McLaren Vale Grenache 2010, down from £107.94 a case to £61.86.

Château Grand-Pontet St Emilion, reduced from £240 per case to £149.28.

The 64% saving is on Henriques & Henriques 20-year-old Old Malmsey Madeira, with a sale price of £107.94 for a case of six bottles, down from £300.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

All across England and Wales, vineyards are being harvested. Down winding country lanes come armies of welly-wearing conscripts wielding secateurs and buckets, ready to reap the rewards of our vines. Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
