Mantella told OLN he has “quite a broad remit”, but will be starting out with some work in the UK.
He will be working across all United Wineries’ brands – which include Berberana, Marqués de Monistrol cava and Canaletto – but with a focus on the premium Haciendas range.
Mantella said: “It’s going to be a very interesting job that is going to use all I have done in the past 10 years and a lot more as well, and it keeps me in Spain.”
Mantella left Codorníu in May after 12 years with the company. He took the top job in 2010, replacing Bill Breen.
Codorníu has hired head hunters to find a replacement for him.
