Tesco wine team grows

Tony Miles has joined Tesco’s wine technical team and will be responsible for France, Spain, Portugal, North & South America and New Zealand.

He has been at Tesco since 2011 and moves to wine from the group food team following stints in chocolate, sweets, crisps, snacks and juices.

Miles will work alongside Bharat Mistry, Danielle Jack and Gerda Pociute under category technical manager Andrew Gale.

Gale said: “I speak on behalf of the entire wine team in welcoming Tony to the team. As the UK wine team extends the business globally, Tony’s knowledge of the markets will prove immensely helpful.”

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

All across England and Wales, vineyards are being harvested. Down winding country lanes come armies of welly-wearing conscripts wielding secateurs and buckets, ready to reap the rewards of our vines. Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
