The Philosophy has an abv of 13.5% and is designed to showcase flavour, lightness and longevity.
McGuigan told OLN: "It's not to say we aren't proud of the big red wines Australia does, but we wanted to go back to the Australian Cabenet Shiraz of the 70s and 80s.
"This is not a 16.5% abv, double American oak, heavy tannin wine. This is about power and finesse."
The grapes are sourced from Clare and Eden Valley and the wine is aged for two years prior to bottling and spends a further two years in bottle “to ensure adequate maturation”.
McGuigan said: "This wine will act as a hero in our portfolio and help us raise the quality of everything so that we can over-deliver at every price point.
McGuigan joined distributor Australian Vintage and celebrity chef and Masterchef judge John Torode to launch The Philosophy at the London Wine Fair today.
Torode told OLN: "I think Philosophy is a great style. It's nice to see something big and gutsy and going back to that Australian claret.
McGuigan added: "What John does with food and what we do with wine is very engaging. We hard going to work doubly hard on that over the next few years.
"There is a fantastic opportunity to get people excited around food and wine."
