International Beer Challenge 2014 open for entries

11 March, 2014

The International Beer Challenge 2014 is now open for entries and a dedicated website has been launched to celebrate excellence in brewing.

The challenge is in its 17th year and the number of entries has risen steadily to the point where it is now the main event in the global beer industry calendar.

The judging panel is made up of the shrewdest beer experts in the land, a blend of retailers, importers, publicans, brewers, writers and flavour analysts.

Last year they awarded 38 gold medals, 89 silver medals and 155 bronzes after a record number of entries flooded in from 30 countries.

They study each beer in turn study each beer in turn, considering the appearance, the aroma, the taste and the finish, before discussing their findings with other table members and reaching a consensus on which medal to award.

The level of knowledge and experience of the judges is striking and, for a beer to achieve any kind of medal from such exacting critics is a real achievement.

You can download an entry form here. The deadline is May 30.

Trophies for best in class winners will be announced in September at an awards ceremony.
