WKD to ramp up price-marking

WKD is making price-marked 70cl bottles of Blue, Iron Brew and Green available in cash and carries from the end of February.

Initial six-bottle cases of the £2.99 packs will include a POS pack for the brand’s new WKD Brazilian limited edition, including a voucher for £1 off a case of the product.

Marketing director Debs Carter said the earlier introduction of price-marked four-packs had seen sales increase by 23% over the standard format.

“There is strong evidence that price-marked packs drive impulse purchase,” she said. “Seven out of 10 shoppers say they are more likely to buy a product on impulse if it is price-marked.”

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
