Highland Park launches Freya

07 February, 2014

Orkney distillery Highland Park has released the third whisky in its Valhalla Collection, inspired by the Norse gods.

Freya, named after the Norse goddess of love, joins Thor and Loki in the collection, rrp £140.

The 15-year-old malt, bottled at 51.2% abv, has aromas of white chocolate and tropical fruit along with the sweet smokiness of Highland Park.

It comes in a wooden frame designed to evoke Viking longships.

Global marketing manager Gerry Tosh said: “Freya is utterly captivating and I think people might feel the same about this smooth and classy single malt. It is unmistakably Highland Park, but offers a rich, full burst of flavour that reflects this Warrior God’s mesmeric aura and feisty dominant side.”

The whisky is available from specialist independent whisky retailers.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas
