Upham marks anniversary with seasonal brew

30 January, 2014

Hampshire’s Upham Brewery is celebrating a year of record-breaking sales by recreating seasonal ale First Drop – the beer it brewed to mark the opening of its new state-of-the-art brewery a year ago.

The new brewhouse in the Meon Valley has trebled production of regular ales Punter, Tipster and Stakes, as well as four seasonal brews.

First Drop is made from only British ingredients and has a light floral and spice aroma with sweet grass and orchard blossom, according to Upham.

It will be the first time head brewer James Stephenson, who joined from Wells & Young’s last year, brews the seasonal beer.

He said: “The brewery enjoyed a fantastic year in 2013 so it’s great to be able to revisit one of the ales which kick-started our incredible growth last year.”

First Drop will be available until April.
