Belgian brewer Duvel Moortgat to open London office

10 January, 2014

Belgian brewer Duvel Moortgat is ramping up its focus on the UK market by setting up a London office in the Old Truman’s brewery in Shoreditch.

James Clay has distributed the beers – which include the blond Duvel and Duvel Tripel Hop – for 25 years, but the brewer’s new office will open at the end of the month and take over.

UK general manager Matt Willson, who will head up a growing team, said: “We would certainly like to thank James Clay for all they have done for the brand over the last 25 years.

“But this is a big moment for us, and we aim to maximise the significant opportunity that exists in the UK market.

Our brands are in strong growth and we have an exciting programme of consumer, trade and brand initiatives, which we will be bringing to market later this year. This will include the launch of beers from Duvel Moortgat’s recent acquisition, Boulevard Brewery of Kansas City.

“Setting up our own office in the Old Truman’s brewery in Shoreditch will give us the impetus to build a greater platform for Boulevard and all our existing, and future, brands. All distribution, marketing and sales will be handled by the new office.”

The portfolio also includes ranges from Vedett, Maredsous, La Chouffe, De Koninck and Liefmans.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

All across England and Wales, vineyards are being harvested. Down winding country lanes come armies of welly-wearing conscripts wielding secateurs and buckets, ready to reap the rewards of our vines. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
