New look and IPA for US craft brew Fordham

US craft beer range Fordham has been given a new look and added an IPA to the line-up.

Route 1 Session IPA has 4.5% abv and is brewed with Bravo, Cascade, Chinook and Crystal hops giving grapefruit and pine aromas.

Importer Heathwick recommended it as a match for curries and spicy foods.

Fordham’s Helles lager has been rebranded as Gypsy Lager as part of an overall rebrand. 

Heathwick general manager Graham Richardson said: “With Route 1 alongside Ram’s Head at 7.5% abv, we can now offer two great IPAs differentiated by abv, in one of the most popular craft beer styles.

“With more craft lager brewers using the generic ‘helles’ descriptor, the memorable name and branding of Gypsy Lager gives it a high profile in the fridge or on the shelf.

“Fordham’s brews have built up a loyal following since we first launched them in the UK two years ago. The craft beer market is getting more competitive all the time, and brands need to be instantly recognisable from the label.”

Fordham and its twin brand Old Dominion are brewed in Dover, Delaware, and announced late last year they would introduce a rolling range of seasonal beers as part of an increased focus on beer and food pairing to boost distribution.

Heathwick is backing both brands with the Fordham & Dominion Experience, which includes branded glassware, beer and food-matching advice and ideas for developing beer cocktail recipes.

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
