Rémy and First Drinks to end UK deal

10 December, 2013

Rémy Cointreau is to part company with UK distributor First Drinks from March 31 next year.

It will put Rémy Martin Cognac, Cointreau, Mount Gay rum and the passion fruit liqueur Passoa into its own Rémy Cointreau UK Distribution company after that date.

First Drinks said it had been working on a “transition plan” with Rémy since the French drinks giant set up its own UK operation to handle Bruichladdich single malt and The Botanist gin at the start of 2013, having bought them in 2012.

William Grant-owned First Drinks – whose portfolio includes Glenfiddich, Green Mark vodka, Tia Maria, Hendrick’s, Disaronno and Piper-Heidsieck- – has represented the Rémy brands in the UK since 2009.

First Drinks managing director Chris Mason said: “We are very proud of the fantastic results we have delivered in building the Rémy Cointreau brands.

“Our focus going forward will be to do what we do best: build premium brands.”
