The world’s largest wine retailer’s Wine by the Case site saw increased sales of 29% compared to the same promotional period last year.
Meanwhile sales of wine through Tesco’s grocery site rose 51% on 2012.
The retailer said last week was particularly successful for Champagne and sparkling wine sales, which accounted for 25% of total category’s online sales.
Stuart Anderton, category manager for Wine by the Case, said: “Tesco has seen a phenomenal week for wines sales across our online platforms – the biggest week we have ever experienced. Customers are clearly stocking up for the festive period with people really making the most of some of the fantastic offers that were available last week.”
