Brothers launches tequila cider

Brothers Drinks has launched a tequila-flavoured cider called Perro Loco – or “mad dog” in Spanish.

Perro Loco is a 5.5% abv cider cut with lemon and tequila flavour, with added agave nectar.

It comes in a 33cl bottle and is recommended served with a slice of lime in the neck.

Consumer marketing manager Cheryl Sheppard said: “Innovation has been the driving force behind the success of cider. Increasingly consumers are bored with lager, RTDs and even just plain old apple and pear cider. They are also demanding more than just another fruit-flavoured cider. 

“Perro Loco is developed with genuine cidermaking expertise. It will deliver something even more refreshing to the category for 18 to 34-year-old drinkers and a genuine incremental profit opportunity to the trade.”

The launch will be backed with digital marketing, social media and POS.

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
