Bargain Booze bolsters range with exclusive wines

01 October, 2013

Bargain Booze has added seven exclusive wines to the list available to franchisees as it seeks to beef up its premium offering.

Rioja producer Faustino’s Silver Collection wines will be available for the fist time outside of duty-free and the line-up also includes wines from Faustino-owned Condesa de Leganza and Kosi Bay of South Africa.

The chain signed up former Waitrose buyer Susan McCraith as “resident MW” in May and she is in the process of reviewing the company’s entire wine strategy.

It further declared its intention to be taking more seriously in the wine category with the acquisition of Wine Rack last month.

Wine buyer Sarah Richardson said: “Spanish wine is currently the largest area of growth in the market as a whole.

“We’ve also launched Kosi Bay following the increase in price of New Zealand wine in recent months. We’re committed to value and wanted to provide a low entry price New Zealand-style wine for our customers.”

Bargain Booze has also raised its game in bottled ale with a take-home exclusive deal with Blackburn brewer Thwaites for three brews previously only on sale in its pubs.

Triple C, 13 Guns and Big Ben will be available in 33cl bottles at £1.50 rrp.
