New winemaker at premium Languedoc firm

26 September, 2013

Languedoc winery Abbotts & Delaunay has appointed Hilde Chevillot as its new winemaker.

Chevillot, whose 15-year career has taken in wineries in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Limoux, Minervois and Chile and also includes a stint with Baron Philippe de Rothschild, takes over from outgoing winemaker Vincent Charleux.

Owner Laurent Delaunay believes smaller businesses like Abbots & Delaunay that focus on quality above quantity are shaking off Languedoc’s historical tag as a wine factory and carving out a new reputation as a prestigious region.

He said he knows Chevillot will “not only maintain but enhance the very high standards that have already been created at Abbotts & Delaunay, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of the region’s premium winemakers”.
