He is to speak about how the newspaper industry has adapted to meet consumer demand in a new, technological age, and will offer first-hand insight into the challenges of operating in an industry under imminent threat of new and significant regulation.
Lord Black is executive director of the Telegraph Media Group and a Conservative life peer. He was central to the campaign mounted by the newspaper industry to offer an alternative to regulation as suggested by Lord Leveson, putting forward a tougher self-regulatory approach as an alternative. He was also director of communications at the Press Complaints Commission in the mid-1990s when the body underwent considerable change.
There will also be a panel discussion chaired by Simon Jack, business editor for Radio Four’s Today programme, along with Future Foundation account director Barry Clark, Osprey Publishing managing director Rebecca Smart and Jon White, chair of the executive committee of British advertising organisation ISBA and marketing director at Kimberley Clark.
