I Heart wine brand signs MW to bolster range

Copestick Murray has appointed Jo Ahearne MW as consultant winemaker for its I Heart wine brand.

Ahearne gained her MW qualification in 2008 and her past roles include winemaker at Jacob’s Creek and Marks & Spencer, and head of the wine and spirits department at Harrods.

The I Heart range is sourced from various wineries around the world but focuses on the grape and brand more than the region the liquid hails from.

Ahearne has been brought in to “enhance the quality of the brand’s wines” and she said she looks forward to producing an “exciting” range.

Brand manager Rachel Archer added: “We feel there is no better benchmark against quality than Jacob’s Creek and with Jo’s UK supermarket experience she is perfectly placed to help us take the brand to the next level.”

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
